  Job Description: A Design Manager serves a dual role – one part team leader, one part designer.  This unique position requires a hands-on approach in both cases and a very agile mind who can balance fulfilling the needs of the department, the designers, and their individual workload simultaneously.  Our Design department is a fast-paced environment where creative artistry and strategic thinking drive everything we do.   Responsibilities AS TEAM LEADER, THE DESIGN MANAGER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUSTAINING AND ELEVATING THE CALIBER OF THE CONTEXTUAL AND VISUAL DESIGN ACROSS OUR LOCATIONS.   RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * Design direction and mentoring as well as serving as a sounding board and inspiration for the entire team. * Interviews, hires, trains, and develops employees. * Motivates employees, assists in goal setting, provide development opportunities and performance feedback, addresses complaints, and provides resolutions. * Serves as a technical expert for designs to ensure quality design process compliance with all local and national codes and regulations. * Distributes work throughout the department.  Manages day-to-day workflow-related issues, such as filling downtime and outsource/freelance needs. * Direct, manage and lead dedicated designer groups across multiple disciplines and job categories. * Oversee the product training and process adherence as it relates to a Designer/Specifier role within the Strategic Accounts and Strategic Response Teams. * Responsible for plan double-check process and protocol for all office locations. * Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes. * Mentor and supervise the Design team while challenging and introducing new and innovative methods of creative execution. * Manage, motivate, and influence the design team to constantly strive for excellence in performance. * Provide a growth path for successful PeopleSpace Designers and quickly managing out non-performers. * Provide written evaluations and performance updates for successful and non-performing Designers with action plans and firm dates for progress and improvement requirements. * Develop and design concepts and execute creative material as required. * Understand each facet of what’s being designed and push every member of the team to produce the utmost quality. * Establish a positive culture.   DESIGN MANAGER WILL BE CREATING AND PRODUCING DESIGN WORK AND BE SERVING AS AN ADDITIONAL POWERHOUSE FOR THE TEAM.   RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: * Develops basic presentation approaches by reviewing materials and information presented by the client. * Will be externally facing and participate in key client meetings and creative presentations. * Convey design concepts to various internal and external audiences.   QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS * Manages staff using LMA tools. * Strong information visualization and presentation skills. * Coaches and Mentors all other members of the design staff. * Ability to clearly and confidently present work in front of both internal team members and external clients. * Possesses an advanced understanding of all stages of design development and processes. * Strong people, persuasion, and presentation skills to be able to keep clines and staff satisfied. * An intimate understanding of design best practices/guidelines. * Excellent leadership skills. * Excellent communication skills. * Works closely with sales and support teams. As a Design Manager, you will collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high-impact user experiences. You will contribute to design strategy, research insights, and iterative product improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Own UX flows and interaction design for core product areas.
  • Partner with PMs and engineers to align on scope and roadmap.
  • Conduct usability testing and synthesize findings.
  • Contribute to design systems and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of product or UX design experience.
  • Strong portfolio showing end-to-end process.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
